Important information below for flower arrangements from the Autumn show onwards
In line with NAFAS & RHS guidelines no floral foam is to used in flower arrangements
So what can you do instead? (Do more than one of these in combination if needed)
Pin Holders - These are reusable plates with closely spaced pins to hold flower stems in place.
Chicken Wire - A cage or ball inside a container that stems are inserted into.
An Old Flower Frog - These are glass inserts for vases with holes in.
Pebbles, sand, gravel & marbles - Used in a container to a 1/3 depth that you can then push your stems into.
Shredded Wood - Sometimes called wood aspen or excelsior, this is a compostable material that is a tangle of fibres.
Pliable Twigs - Twigs such as curly willow pushed inside a vase as a support for stems.

Buxted Horticultural Society
The society was founded in 1870 and retains a certain old fashioned charm of the true village society, bringing together both amateur gardeners, seasoned experts and 'have a go' members of the local community to exhibit their blooms, pot plants, fruit and vegetables, flower arrangements, photographs and domestic / baking skills.
All exhibits are entered into classes as laid down by RHS standards, judged according to the class standards and prizes awarded.
We hold traditional flower and produce shows which have home-made cakes and refreshments available and raffles etc. We also hold other talks and outings throughout the year.”
New members always welcome.
